Elyse CheneyFounder and President
Elyse Cheney has been an agent for 16 years, working first with Sanford J. Greenburger Associates before founding Cheney Associates in January 2005. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature.
Adam Eaglin joined Cheney Associates as a literary agent in 2012. He began his publishing career in editorial at Basic Books before working as an agent at The Wylie Agency. He studied English literature at Duke University and holds an MFA in poetry from Boston University. He represents a range of literary fiction and non-fiction, including history, politics, current events, narrative reportage, biography, memoir, and popular science.
Alexander JacobsAgent, Foreign Rights Director
Alexander Jacobs joined Cheney Associates in 2011. He studied History at the University of Pennsylvania and holds an MPhil in the History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Cambridge. He is interested in narrative non-fiction (particularly in the areas of history, science, politics, and culture), literary fiction, crime, and memoir. He also directs the agency’s foreign rights department.
Alice Whitwham joined Cheney Associates in August 2016, after having worked at the Zoe Pagnamenta Agency. Previously she managed programming, events, and marketing at McNally Jackson Books. She represents a balance of literary and commercial fiction, as well as voice-driven narrative nonfiction, cultural criticism, and journalism. She studied literature at Cambridge and holds an MA in poetry and cultural theory from the University of Chicago. She directs marketing for the agency, developing and managing strategies for individual clients and titles.
